Ukulele Club
The ukulele club meets once a week on Wednesdays after school from 3-3:30. They perform twice a year, once at the 5th grade concert and then again at the school talent show. The school has 10 ukuleles available for students to use, however, they are not allowed to take them home to practice. While this should not affect them being ready for their performances, it is encouraged for students to have their own ukuleles if possible. This helps not only with practicing, but also opens up our club to more students that cannot afford to purchase their own instrument. Currently the ukulele club is open to only 5th graders although Miss Fonseca is looking into the idea of opening it to other grades. I am also open to the thought of having our ukulele club perform at other community events!
Children's Choir
The Wenz Children's Choir meets every Tuesday from 3-4 and typically adds Wednesday rehearsals closer to the concert date. The choir has two main concerts. One in the winter and one in the spring. They also sing the national anthem for a high school basketball game. In the past the children's choir has sang at a few other events, however, other than our two main concerts and basketball game, nothing is set in stone. Auditions are held in August for new 4th and 5th graders and in January for 3rd graders. If your student was in children's choir the previous year they will be invited back to sing with the choir with no audition required. (Rules and expectations will be added here at a later date.)
